INTRODUCTION
Established in June, 2002, School of Software is one of the first 35 pilot software schools approved jointly by the Ministry of Education and the Committee of Planning.
The School consists of five departments: Department of Net Security, Department of IBM Mainframe, Department of Embedment System, Department of Software Technology and Department of Digital Media. The School set up numbers of organizations such as ¡°IBM Mainframe Z-series System Education Centre (Chengdu)¡±, Office of Enterprise Cooperation, Sino-Indian Education Center and etc. The State Software Talents International Training Base (Chengdu)¡± is also based in the School.
Cooperating widely with local government and industries, the School set up many training bases for master degree candidates in software engineering so as to cultivate advanced software talents according to the specific needs of enterprises. A lot of undergraduate students are selected from the School every year for internship in India. And the School chooses a lot of students for joint-programs in universities abroad, such as India, Ireland and the UK. In cooperation with Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Maipu Group, Zte Corporation and so on, the School set up many enterprise internship bases. This strongly supports the cultivation of globally competitive software talents.
As a cradle of internationalized software talents, the School currently has over 2600 students, among whom 2000-plus are master degree candidates and about 400 bachelor students. In recent years, master students enjoy an employment rate of 96% and bachelor students 93%.
